Safety & Security

Your Safety, Our Priority

At The SSE Arena, the safety and security of our visitors, staff, and performers is our top priority. We are committed to providing a welcoming and secure environment where everyone can enjoy world-class experiences with confidence. From everyday operations to large-scale events, our approach is rooted in professionalism, preparedness, and collaboration with trusted stakeholders.

Safety

We follow a robust safety framework designed to ensure the wellbeing of all who visit, underpinned by strict compliance with all relevant regulations, licensing requirements, and safety standards. Every event is supported by comprehensive risk assessments, rigorous testing procedures, and ongoing maintenance checks, while our staff undergo regular training to ensure best practices are consistently upheld.

We have a team of trained first aiders present during all events, along with defibrillators on-site, and designated safeguarding officers to help ensure a safe and supportive environment for all guests.

Security

Security at The SSE Arena is managed by a dedicated onsite team operating across the wider Odyssey site, in line with all relevant regulations, licensing requirements, and safety standards.

Regular patrols, continuous maintenance checks, and a visible yet discreet presence contribute to a safe atmosphere both inside and outside the arena.

We also maintain a strong working relationship with local partners, including the PSNI and Harbour Police, enabling coordinated support and swift response when needed. In addition, we actively support initiatives such as Ask for Angela and Think 21/25. Our entrance policies, including bag searches and clear protocols regarding prohibited and restricted items, are designed to ensure the safety and peace of mind of everyone attending events.

Preparedness

Emergency preparedness and resilience form a core pillar of our safety and security approach. Our contingency planning is supported by thorough planning, effective coordination, and clear communication, alongside regular training, testing, and exercising. We place equal importance on learning and continuous improvement, ensuring our teams are equipped to respond confidently to a wide range of scenarios.

As active members of leading industry bodies, including the National Arenas Association and the European Arenas Association, we engage in regular knowledge sharing to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices. We also align with current and developing legislative requirements, including Martyn’s Law, as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety.
